by Richard M. Ankers
And though I left in the midst of mental tumult
And though I wept for those days to return
They, like I, could not
-
And though I swept the Earth for salvation
And though I searched for a life returned
It, like I, could not
-
And though I flourished like a snowdrop after winter
And though my petals blazed brighter than day
It, like I, could not last
-
And though I write this, chest heaving
And though I pray myself just a fool
This, like me, is done
