Among the wild flowers of the Mediterranean, Blows a warm, salty breeze, Soft clouds gather To guard the peace of the sea. With my eyes I contemplate the reflected sun, In every living wave, Which seems to carry it to the crashing With the fine sand. Yet I wish I could feel the heavenly water, That the light may dim a tone, That the coolness descends from above, For the wild flowers of the Mediterranean.
